nudity | Mick Taylor refers to using female captives for a "few fun months". Rape is heavily implied throughout the duration of this movie Two young hitchhikers are shown kissing. In one scene, two young hitchhikers start to get undressed for sex, but nothing is shown. Mick (John Jarratt) fondles a girl's breasts under her tank top and then rips her underwear off (without removing her jeans). A man makes a joke about becoming a stripper and making "horny old ladies" happy. |
violence | The film contains several scenes of strong sadistic violence and torture. Very strong gore includes dismembering a dead body (the heart and penis are shown), beheading a victim, shooting the heads off of victims with a shotgun (the heads explode in a shower of blood), shooting an old man in the head, shooting an old woman in the back (and then the face), crashing cars, lighting cars on fire, and more. Mick (John Jarratt) punches a girl, lashes a man with a whip, and severs a man's fingers with a power saw. A man is bashed in the face with a hammer. A dungeon filled with bloody corpses and tortured victims (both dead and alive) is shown. During a car chase, kangaroos cross the road and are hit and smashed by the moving vehicles. Mick uses his sniper and shoots 4+ characters in the head. It is quite graphic and full on. Mick Taylor violently butchers a hitch-hiker. He severs his spinal cord and then proceeds to behead him in front of his girlfriend, He is later seen dissecting the body as if it was cattle or sheep and placing the body in the back of his car. In one scene Taylor is seen cutting two of Paul's fingers off with an electric saw while his hand is broken and clamped. A chandelier of human bodies was made. You can see 5 skeletons tied together with lights around it for decoration. There are hundreds of mutilated, decomposing females corpses in Mick Taylor's underground pathways. You can see each female as Paul walks past them in graphic and gruesome details. One female presumed dead starts screaming and grabs out for Paul, she is extremely bloody and he runs away. Later on, he find a way out, past a series of booby traps, one of which is a hole in the ground with sharp bamboo spikes coming out from the ground. Paul plans on hitting Mick with the hammer and into the hole, killing him, except who he thought was Mick was actually the girl who had started screaming earlier on. You see her dead body face down on the spikes for a few moments. |
profanity | Extremely strong, with nearly constant use of words including fuck, shit, ass, piss, hell and Jesus is used once as an exclamation. Mick (John Jarratt) makes a reference that something is as "dry as a nun's nasty." Australian slang words pommy and ponce are used. Name calling (asshole, bitch, bastard, cunt and faggot.) |
alcohol | The young hitchhikers drink some wine and make a reference to "getting drunk." Mick serves strong alcohol to one of his victims, they both drink, but the victim dumps out the second cup when the killer isn't looking. There's a brief hand gesture to indicate that someone may be smoking pot. Mick smokes a cigarette in one shot. |
frightening | As this whole movie is intense and may be considered frightening, there is a few scenes towards the end that is extremely intense. Paul is tortured, Mick uses an electric saw to cut off his fingers. Paul escapes from Micks torture dungeon and runs through underground tunnels for a good 10 minutes. Through those tunnels, there are dead, mutilated corpses from females lining the walls. Most are chained up or hung from ceilings and are starting to decompose. When Paul is investigating a female body, she suddenly jumps up and starts screaming for help, she is quite mutilated and bloody and her eyes have glazed over with a white film. This is sudden and is possible the biggest jump scare of the entire movie. |
