A British multinational company seeks to overthrow a vicious dictator in central Africa. It hires a band of (largely aged) mercenaries in London and sends them in to save the virtuous but imprisoned opposition leader who is also critically ill and due for execution. Just when the team has performed a perfect rescue, the multinational does a deal with the vicious dictator leaving the mercenary band to escape under their own steam and exact revenge.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity None shown, though there are a few mild verbal references. One of the characters is a homosexual, although he isn't seen hugging or kissing other men, he mentions that he and his husband are going through a divorce.
violence A man is forced to eat a bag of pure heroin. This scene may disturb some viewers as he is shown to be in alot of pain and it is suggested that he dies painfully, although this is not shown. A man threatens to shoot other men he is training unless they work harder, but this is done in a comical way. Some men are gassed in their sleep. There are several battle scenes that show some blood and a lot of death. Two shots in particular might be considered disturbing, though both are fairly brief. In one, a Simba (enemy) soldier is machine-gunned, leaving a string of bloody, spurting entry wounds. In another, a man's throat is slit (shown in close-up). Some characters are shown to be in pain and dying, but their wounds are never very graphic. A man is shot in cold blood, but it is not done without reason.
profanity 7 "h" words 3 "s" words 1 "d" word 3 "a" words 1 "b" word 3 usages of "bastard" 1 "g*d d*mns" 5 "f" words
alcohol A man is forced to eat drugs (see Violence and Gore). There is some drinking and one of the characters smokes cigars in battle.
frightening The scene with the drugs is intense and may disturb some viewers (see Violence and Gore). The battle sequences can be very intense and some death scenes may upset viewers. There is some blood shown but no real gore, but they still feel quite realistic and gritty.
