Hollywood Movies | Adventure | Action | Thriller | Sci-Fi
nudity | None, however it is stated that David Marcus is Kirk's illegitimate son. |
violence | There are a number of scenes of space combat between the Enterprise and Reliant. During interior "explosion" scenes, crewmen of both ships can be seen to be killed in the blasts. In a scene set in Enterprise's sickbay, a number of characters die, including one shown to be horribly charred and bloodied, who speaks for a brief moment with Kirk before dying. One character is terribly burned near the end of the film by an explosion. Bloody corpses are hung from rafters on Regula One by Khan's men. Two characters are disintegrated by phaser fire; no gore is shown. One of these is a suicide, although in context it is a heroic self-sacrifice. Another individual is shown with lesions oozing green blood while dying from radiation poisoning. Depending on the cut of the film, the exit of a creature called a Ceti Eel from someone's ear can be bloody (some cuts have an extreme closeup of the ear, with blood oozing out along with the eel). |
profanity | 7 uses of "God" or "Lord"; 8 instances of "damn"; 6 of "hell." The phrase "son of a bitch" is also heard once. |
alcohol | Two characters consume a fictional illegal beverage; in real life it would clearly be akin to hard liquor of some type, such as rum or whisky. |
frightening | A worm-like and scary-looking Ceti Eel is forcibly introduced into the ears of two characters; it is shown crawling into one man's, and both men are then shown screaming loudly in pain and/or terror. A character runs into a bloody corpse hanging from the ceiling, and another disintegrates himself with his own weapon which may upset younger viewers. The film's iconic climax in which Spock dies could upset many viewers. |
