This movie is shot from a documentary point of view, in the eyes of college students who think that they're doing a documentary on Alzheimer's. It turns out that they're actually filming a documentary about a snake demon that is possessing Deborah Logan. Even though it's never shown, the demon manifests itself by voice changes in Deborah, violent actions, and attacks of anger and spastic fits where Sarah and Mia have to hold her down. It's disturbing without too much gore.
The movie is jump scene oriented during suspenseful scenes when they're searching for Deborah, where sometimes you find Deborah in a corner staring at a wall, or suddenly standing in a spot where she wasn't.
The young cancer patient that is half-eaten by Deborah is seen beforehand speaking about a man by the river and watching Deborah attack a man with her snake fangs. This is disturbing, especially when she talks about a "nice man."
