nudity | Brief mention of fear of sexual violence against the main character's wife and son. Naked male rears are shown multiple times. |
violence | Most of the violence is only implied or heard. The film involves danger, threats, and a gloomy, bleak atmosphere. A father and son find bodies hanging in a barn from apparent suicide Parents argue and discuss the likelihood of rape and murder in their/their son's future in an apparently violent atmosphere with gangs of cannibalistic adults. A father instructs his son on how to use a firearm to commit suicide. The threat of suicide is very prevalent. People are shot with crossbows and guns. Some graphic wounds. A storage of human livestock is revealed. Many of the people are in various states of starvation as well as living butchery (raw amputations, etc). This is shown quickly in a dark room, with chaos and scrambling for the open door. This is probably the most disturbing scene in the movie. This film's actual violence is low compared to the near-constant sense of threat. |
profanity | Moderate strong language. |
alcohol | A man smokes cigarettes in several scenes. A son asks his father if he can have some alcohol. |
frightening | The entire film is intense and dreary. The constant threat of violence is very ominous, constant references to suicide and murder. The scene where human livestock are discovered is extremely disturbing and frightening. Bodies shown post-suicide. All characters shown in state of no hygiene, and starvation. 15+ |
