When young Fool breaks into the home of his family's greedy and uncaring landlords, he discovers a disturbing scenario where incestuous adult siblings have mutilated a number of boys and kept them imprisoned under stairs in their large, creepy house. As Fool attempts to flee before the psychopaths can catch him, he meets their daughter, Alice, who has been spared any extreme discipline by her deranged parents. Can Fool and Alice escape before it's too late?

Movie Parental Guide

nudity 3/10 An incestuous relationship between the two main antagonists is explained near the start of the movie. The incestuous relationship between the antagonists is hinted at via actions and interactions throughout the movie, though not confirmed verbally nor visually. The male antagonist appears in a full leather BDSM outfit. Some references to genitalia. A man says that thirteen is unlucky anyway. Too young for a**. Too old for T***. It is mentioned that the main characters sister is a hooker, but we do not see her in any revealing clothing.
violence 7.5/10 3 people are shot. Non-graphic. A woman feeds a severed hand to a dog. A large puddle of blood is seen below a stair case. A dead man is seen with his hand caught in something like a rat trap. A dog bites a man's arm which results in the arm getting bloody It is mentioned that the people under the stairs have had their ears, eyes, and/or tongue cut out after either speaking, hearing, and/or seeing evil. None of these events occur in the film since they have happened long before any events seen in the film. The thing between the walls (one of the people under the stairs who has found his way out from under the stairs into the walls) shows the remaining stump of his tongue that was cut out. One of the people under the stairs is shot off screen. He writes a girl's name in blood from his wound to help a kid find her. We see him die right after. A woman is stabbed to death; she's pretty bloody. She also gets her arm bitten by one of the people under the stairs before hand and we see her wound. A dog is stabbed through a wall; blood is seen dripping out of the hole. A guy's near-skinless, gory corpse is seen. Non-sexual child abuse is seen and suggested throughout the movie. A young girl is seen being bathed in scalding water. Just about any weapon you can think of can been seen from slingshots to explosives can be seen in the movie. A kid kills a man with explosives, but we do not see the aftermath. We see money fly out the house.
profanity 5/10 Pretty heavy language considering the fact that the MPAA didn't consider it a reason for its R rating back in 1991. Pretty much at the high end of PG-13 level language About 3 uses of the f-word (one of which used by a kid.) 2 or 3 derogatory remarks to black people. A pretty good sprinkling of S-words, A-words, D-words, and H-words. Some words referring to female genitalia as well such as P***y or T**ts.
alcohol 4/10 In the ghetto, some drug users are seen doing drugs. We do not know what drugs are being used, but they move their arms in way we know they are using drugs. The scene is very brief. A man smokes a pipe A man smokes cigarettes.
frightening 7.5/10 Children are put into intense peril and terror throughout. The main villains are scary and extremley nasty. Although the film is nowhere near as violent or graphic as torture porn films such as Saw or Hostel, the film is still very disturbing. The film also has a very creepy tone. A kid may be the main character and the film has a fairytale structure, but I would not reccomend this film for children under 14. Know your kid if their 14 or 15. Say age appropriate for 16 or 17. Total content level score: 29/50
