nudity Although he thinks it is all part of an act, Bill Murray's character interacts with a real call girl for most of the movie. Consequently, there are a lot of sexual double entendres. When Bill Murray's character approaches the call girl's house, she is shown preparing for her next encounter, but no nudity and nothing explicit A scene of S&M foreplay in a hotel room. A woman is whipping a man and asking "What are you?" to which he replies "A very naughty boy." There is pink lingerie covering all the lamps. Murray mistakes the woman for an "evil lady torturer." The woman later remarks "It was our 45th anniversary."
violence Actors fake a mugging in an audience-participation theater program. A hit man accidentally kills an actor. There is a mugging, in which Bill Murray's wallet gets stolen. The muggers have a knife. No blood. Bill Murray accidentally fires a gun, not knowing that it was real, at another man. No one is injured or killed, but there is an explosion. A woman is almost killed by a hit man trying to strangle her through the kitchen door. Bill Murray kicks another door open and picks up the hit man's gun and the hit man goes away. There is no blood. A "freshly killed" corpse is seen on screen. There is no blood. Bill Murray tests him because he believes that the corpse is alive but acting dead for fun. Two men with guns break into a house. One of the villains is nicknamed "the butcher." A hit man is supposedly hired to "take care of the girl" and the villains say "remember to flush," meaning dispose of the body. A woman whips another man. A man discusses how another man killed his dog. Discussion of "decapitation of Ponsonby in Helsinki." Police break through the windows of a house where a dinner party is going on. Men inject truth serum into Bill Murray (though, since his character believes the whole story to be nothing more than a game; he doesn't talk) and at one point he says "Yo, matey, you stabbed me with a pen." At another point they accidentally inject him with a real pen (as the truth serum is disguised as a pen). Villains say to "the butcher," "It's fun for you but we have to clean up afterwards" about decapitation. No decaptiation is shown. Villains shoot at an unarmed Bill Murray while he is standing on a ledge outside a hotel. None of the bullets hit Murray and there is no blood. Bill Murray's character's brother is tortured. We see him reacting in pain as if he is being shocked. The villains plot to blow up a reception at a hotel involving the signing of a peace treaty between the UK and Russia; in order to bring the cold war back together. Lots of comic violence throughout. A helicopter explodes near the end.
profanity Multiple uses of God, one G** D***. One instance of the "sh" word A couple of uses of b*stard and b**ch An actor calls another actor "Mouse balls."
alcohol A man says that he ordered champagne from Paris. A woman instructs a man to bring up martinis. Bill Murray's character's brother suggests smoking Ambassadors (cigars) at the end of the evening. Bill Murray is given truth serum, and he talks as though he has been drugged. Bill Murray takes allergy drops. Bill Murray calls a Russian man "Vodka." Drinks at a dinner party and drinks at a reception.
frightening The whole concept of the story is that Bill Murray's character mistakes a real bomb threat for an audience-participation theater, and thinks that everything is a game. He narrowly escapes death several times, still believing that the whole thing is part of the show. Gunshots throughout the movie. A hit man breaks through a kitchen window. This can be quite startling and frightening for some people. One of the hit men is nicknamed "the butcher." Talk of decapitation. This may be frightening to some people. Dr. Ludmilla Kropotkin's (the "evil lady torturer") methods may frighten some people. A small jump scene when police units break in to a civilian house.
