nudity | 4/10 Halle Berry's character wears slinky clothing and flirts with Fred Flintstone. In one scene, she lifts her leg up on him and says that as his secretary, he should feel free to use her in any way he sees fit. Later, she tells him she's been a very bad girl. Wilma and Betty wear low-cut dresses in a few scenes. Fred makes a brief comment about walking around the house in his underwear. Married couples kiss. Fred mentions that he thinks his crane (which is a dinosaur) is pregnant, remarking that they lock them up in one room every Friday night. |
violence | 4/10 There is some kind of odd explosion at a playground in one scene. Kids are screaming as their parents pick them up and run away. Barney punches Fred in one scene, knocking him unconscious. Bam-Bam, who is about six or seven years old, hits people and objects with a club in various scenes. Serious injury is never caused, though. Cliff is encased in cement at the end, obviously killing him. An angry mob attempts to hang Fred and Barney. Betty strangles the Dicta-Bird, but he isn't hurt. Many people, including Cliff and Barney, are clonked in the head and/or knocked over all throughout the film. Fred pictures his mother-in-law screaming in a dinosaur's mouth (all very silly). |
profanity | 1/10 One use of damn A few prehistoric euphemisms (e.g. "son of a bracheosaurus!") |
alcohol | 2/10 Wilma's mother, played by Elizabeth Taylor, appears drunk in many of the scenes she's in. Fred, Barney and the other Water Buffaloes all drink out of a giant stone mug, and Fred comes home late that night, apparently drunk. Fred orders/drinks wine at a fancy restaurant. A homeless man offers Fred an anonymous liquor, saying it'll grow hair on his knuckles. |
frightening | 2/10 Two children are kidnapped. We see them screaming as they move down a rock crushing/shaping conveyor belt. They all end up okay, but there is tension before/while they are being rescued. A woman is gagged, and her hands/feet are tied together in a scene. Cliff is encased in cement at the end, obviously killing him. MPAA: PG for some comic violence and mild sensuality |
