nudity | 4/10 During the first Cayman Islands trip by Mitch McDeere, he is propositioned by a woman but turns her down. Later, there is a seduction scene on a beach when Mitch McDeere (Tom Cruise) makes his first trip to the Cayman Islands. The beginning of the seduction act is shown. Not much detail or nudity is seen, but it is clear from the context (and his actions later) that he did sleep with the woman. A woman is shown under the desk where a man is sitting. It is assumed that she was performing oral sex on him. |
violence | 6/10 A detective is repeatedly shot in one scene. When McDeere flees the Firm (and its gun toting associates), there are a few gunshots and intense fight scenes. |
profanity | 7/10 In the unedited DVD version, the F word and crude phrases describing the sexual act are used in the scene between Mitch McDeere (Tom Cruise) and Sonny Capps - in the Cayman Islands meeting. Some TV versions will change the wording. FBI Agent Tarrance uses crude language in a scene at the dog track where he threatens McDeere. In the unedited DVD version dozen uses of the F word, 3 times "goddamn" |
alcohol | 3/10 There is some smoking in an early scene where Lamar (an associate of the Firm) tells McDeere that some members of the Firm just died in an explosion. There is some alcohol drunk in some Cayman Islands scenes and a man's drink is drugged in one scene. |
frightening | 5/10 The scene where a detective is murdered involves several gunshots. A woman hiding under an office desk acts terrified and covers her mouth to avoid screaming (and discovery). The long chase by associates of the Firm to get (and silence) Mitch McDeere is intense. Some portions of this chase involve gunshots and intense fights. Total: 25/50 Rated R for: Adult Language, Brief Nudity, Adult Content, Violence.(HBO advisory) |
