The film depicts King Louis as he steadily deteriorates while his courtiers and physicians try to preserve a semblance of health. However, their efforts are futile in preventing his passing. The film contains a scene where a group of physicians are conducting an autopsy. There are some shots showing them handling a coil of intestine and passing a spleen among themselves.
