In one scene a couple is seen kissing passionately but they interrupt.

For a movie that old, there is some strong violence included.
A man is beaten and then hit with a stone on the back of his head. This happens off-screen but the bloody stone is seen afterwards.
A woman get slapped by her husband.
A couple of men want to kill a black man and shoot at him but are stopped by the sheriff.
The same black man is threatened and hit with a gun (off-screen).
The sheriff is beaten up by three man. This scene is long and extremely violent. There is a lot of blood and bruises and he got nearly beaten to death.
There is a long riot scene on a junkyard/gas station with burning cars. The gas station later explodes and a piece crushed on the chest of a lead character. While getting saved you can see his bloody chest. He died shortly afterwards.
After getting arrested, the fugitive character got shot multiple times in front of the police station. You see the shooter and the bloody aftermath. The sheriff beats up the shooter very badly but get stopped by his deputies. |

The setting and how the movie builds up its tension is somewhat uncomfortable. This leads to a real intense finale including the last three violent scenes mentionend above in the 'violence & gore' section. The ending is quite depressing, especially in the way most of the people are portrayed. |
