One important plot element is that the Sergeant killed a German soldier in World War I, unaware that the war was over. This is bookended at the end of the film where the Sergeant makes a similar error attacking a German soldier post final surrender in World War II, but the unit manages to save the soldier's life this time upon realizing the mistake.
Not as gory as Saving Private Ryan or other such films, but still disturbing. |
