frightening | Scorsese has referred to this as his most "violent" film in a metaphorical sense: there are many moments where the characters subtly express emotional turmoil via the narrator, the photography, or their body language. A woman is told that her grandmother has suffered a stroke, we see her being carried to her bedroom and we see the events leading up to the stroke. The narrator mentions at the end of the film that one of the main characters died of pneumonia. OFFICIAL MPAA - Rated PG for thematic elements and some mild language. OFFICIAL BBFC - (U): infrequent mild bad language. |
