Mary Ann Robinson, a young lady living in The Bronx, New York, with her masochist, domineering mother and sympathetic however inadequate stepfather, is assaulted while strolling home one night. Hushing up about the assault, Mary Ann flees, trying to lose herself in Manhattan by leasing a shabby level and taking an occupation in a dime store. Overpowered by individuals' antagonistic vibe and her own particular sadness, Mary Ann tries to bounce off the Manhattan Bridge, just to be ceased by Mike, a carport repairman who takes her back to his unassuming storm cellar loft close-by. At first energetic about Mike's consideration, Mary Ann gets to be distinctly panicked when he declines to let her leave. Is Mike truly Mary Ann's rescuer - or would he say he is another attacker?
