Tough guy Thomas Beckett is an US soldier working in the Panamanian jungle. His job is to seek out rebels and remove them using his sniper skills. Beckett is notorious for losing his partners on such missions. This time he's accompanied by crack marksman Richard Miller.
nudity | R strong bloody violence, torture and some language |
violence | There are obviously several sniper shootings, often in slow motion and generally with a little blood. There are also some close-up fights. Two men are fighting and one is choking the other. -SPOILERS- The one being choked grabs a knife and stabs it into the other man's foot. This scene is extremely graphic and bloody and is not for anyone squeamish. One scene where two men enter a building and there is a dead man sitting in a chair. We see a shot of the man's face and there is a lot of dried blood on it and one of his eyes is missing (this is from an angle so it's a little hard to see, but it's definitely there). A brief torture scene where a man is tied up and is interrogated while having a twine wound tightly around his finger. There are some scenes where a man has flashbacks about his violent past and we see bloody shootings. These scenes are accompanied by eerie music and are somewhat disturbing. There are bits after a sniper shooting takes place where guards will shoot an awful lot of bullets towards where they think the sniper is (they never hit anyone). |
profanity | Frequent throughout. About 20 uses of fuck and it's derivatives, one or two with motherfucker. There is also a lot of milder language throughout the film, such as shit, son of a bitch, damn, hell, ass, etc. |
alcohol | A few characters smoke cigarettes. One of the characters is a drug lord, and this is talked about occasionally. |
frightening | The flashback scenes are intense and disturbing. The sniping scenes are very prolonged and intense. -SPOILERS- There is a long part where the two main characters (who are supposed to be working together) try to shoot each other and one goes slightly crazy after thinking he has shot the other (he hasn't). The torture scene is very realistic and intense. The two main characters are constantly in danger from enemy patrols and a scary enemy sniper. |
