This is a joke though. A main character wears a shirt that says 'I got wood' throughout the film. |
violence | Frequent zombie-related blood and violence. Much of this is comedic, but some is very bloody and graphic. Zombies spread the infection by biting living humans. Many bites are shown. A newscaster says that the only effective means of killing the zombies is by 'removing the head or destroying the brain.' There are many instances of characters bludgeoning zombies to death. This is usually not too bloody. Two men throw an assortment of household items at two approaching zombies. A man throws a vinyl record at a zombie, it shatters on its face, leaving shards embedded in its skin. Two men beat two zombies to 'death' off-screen. Some blood is seen on their clothes and weapons. A zombie is briefly seen eating from the exposed chest cavity of a dead person. This is very brief. Three people beat a zombie with snooker cues. This is done in-time to music, and is meant for comedic purposes. A man is disembowelled and dismembered by a crowd of zombies. Extremely graphic. A man shoots a recently spawned zombie in the head. A man says that his friend "sells a little bit of weed every now and then", and another man briefly mentions how he once sold marijuana to a friend. |
frightening | It's important to remember that this film is a comedy film. The violence and gore is frequent and pervasive, but its impact is significantly lessened by the overall comedic tone of the film. The theme of zombies and the violence could be considered to be moderately scary to some audiences. The zombies themselves are often covered in blood. A man is disembowelled, dismembered, and eaten alive by a hoard of zombies, all on-screen. This is the most graphic scene in the entire movie. The death of one particular character (Shaun's mum) is very emotional. MPAA/USA - Rated R for zombie violence/gore and language. BBFC/UK - Rated 15 (very strong language, strong bloody horror). |
