With the war to end all wars approaching, a youthful armed force "doughboy" Robert Conroy has his life always showed signs of change when a little canine with a thickset tail meanders into camp as the men of the 102nd Infantry Regiment train on the grounds of Yale University. Conroy gives his new companion a name, a family, and an opportunity to leave on the experience that would characterize a century. Regardless of lacking formal military working canine preparing, Stubby the pooch and his human friends end up in the trenches of France and on the way to history. French Infantryman Gaston Baptiste becomes friends with the team and goes with them along their epic adventure through unforgiving conditions and mind blowing demonstrations of mettle. For his valorous activities, Stubby is perceived as the primary canine at any point elevated to the position of Sergeant in U.S. Armed force history.
