nudity | 5/10 Dodge talks with his friend, who says he's been with a different girl every day, saying they don't care about diseases or pregnancy. Due to the impending apocalypse, there are several flyers advertising sexual services. One that reads "Fuck A Virgin" with phone number tear-outs is shown prominently in the opening credits. In a restaurant called Friendsy's, Penny playfully claims that they are there to celebrate Dodge's birthday; a mass of kissing and drinking erupts shortly after, where the staff and customers begin kissing passionately. |
violence | 6/10 A man committing suicide lands on Dodge's car unexpectedly and breaks the windshield, frightening him. We see news footage of several people rioting, setting things on fire, smashing windows, and we see some brief glimpses of dead bodies on the ground. A brick is thrown through Dodge's window as a riot begins around his apartment; he, Penny, and Penny's ex-boyfriend escape through the street and end up abandoning the ex-boyfriend. Dodge dejectedly walks down the street drinking cough syrup and window cleaner in an attempt to commit suicide (he ends up simply becoming unconscious). While Dodge and a man are in a car the man thinks dodge is a hitman but 10 seconds later a sniper shoots through a window and kills the man. Very bloody. |
profanity | 6/10 Semi-frequent use of "fuck" and "shit", as well as some more minor obscenities and name-calling (twat, asshole, dick, etc.). Some religious exclamations. |
alcohol | 4/10 At an apocalypse party, many people lose their inhibitions and do drugs, as a man enters a room with a bag full of needles (we are told it's heroin, but we don't actually see them using it). We see a small child drinking an alcoholic beverage as a grown man cheers her on. Penny is seen smoking marijuana on a few occasions. |
frightening | 8/10 The entire movie revolves around the idea that an asteroid will strike Earth, effectively killing everybody and everything. The final half-hour is incredibly intense and emotional. Many may consider this to be a severely heavy subject, and perhaps even too intense to take. A suicide jumper lands on Dodge's car while he's inside. Bloodless, but sudden and unexpected. A hired assassin helps a client commit suicide by sniping him in the throat. Very bloody and unexpected. 14+ |
