The violence is not always graphic, but almost always onscreen. -- 18 (violence is strong, bloody and disturbing with focus on the victims' terror) Throats are slit a couple times in close-up with lots of blood. -- 18 An eviscerated corpse sits in a chair and one is shown hanging from a tree (lots of blood again). -- 18 A bloody corpse falls onto a car windshield. -- 15 A teenager is crushed in a garage door and later we see her bloody body. -- 18 A few gunshots with some blood (once in the head). -- 15 A bloody knife cut on an arm and lots of hits, kicks, and punches. --15/18 borderline A car crash. -- PG (no detail of injury) A face slap resulting in a woman's bruised face. -- PG (comic) Lots of "jump" scenes with chases, glass exploding, people jumping out. -- 15/18 (accompanied by strong threat) Threatening with guns. -- PG Violence as a whole -- 18

frightening The film contains some strong and sustained (and sometimes sadistic) threat and menace with characters frequently being harassed and stalked by "Ghostface". In many ways, the manner in which characters are tormented before their gruesome deaths makes the violence more hard-hitting and even though some aspects of this film can be seen as comedic, the violence certainly is not. -- 18 (strong threat, terrorization) Due to the graphic violence, it has been the subject of controversy for "horror movies cause real-life violence by impressionable youths". -- 18 (should be reserved for mature adults only). Horror as a whole -- 18 MPAA/USA - Rated R for strong graphic horror violence and gore, and for language. BBFC/UK - Rated 18 (strong bloody violence).
