Dynamic Dutch couple, Martin Verfondern and Margo Pool, had just a single dream - to live off the land, a long way from the requirements and intricacies of the city. Yet, when they touch base in the disintegrating, Spanish town of Santoalla, the outsiders challenge the conventions of the town's sole residual family, lighting 10 years in length strife that comes full circle in Martin's baffling vanishing. As this once overlooked scene is pushed into the focal point of contention, Margo ends up looking for answers, as well as for the quality to drive forward.
