Emma, a graduate student living alone in NYC, is being watched by a stalker who hacks into the technology that surrounds her - laptop, cell phone, and other web connected devices. This obsession continues to grow as the hacker records Emma's most intimate moments. When the thrill of watching isn't enough, the situation escalates to a dangerous and terrifying level.
nudity | You see the main character in the shower about three times, but only from the knee down. She is seen in skimpy pajamas for a good ten minutes of the film, sometimes showing a lot of cleavage. Some passionate kissing and an implied sex scene, although nothing but bare legs are shown in the latter. You see the main character pull down her panties. She is then seen sitting on the toilet peeing for a few seconds, however nothing but her bare legs and feet are shown. |
violence | Almost none, except for a sudden physical attack which happens mostly off-screen. The victim struggles during this scene. A pet cat is killed off-screen. Its lifeless body is found. Might be upsetting to animal lovers. |
profanity | Fuck, shit, bullshit and ass are used, but all very sparingly. Freak is used as an insult. |
frightening | Almost the entire film is an uncomfortable watch. There are moments where you expect a jumpscare, and it usually doesn't happen. It is apparent that someone is watching the main character while she's sleeping, showering, working out and carrying out her other daily activities; some may find this premise disturbing. The movie also ends on a particularly sour note. |
