nudity | 4/10 Diane and Steven kiss passionately. Diane and Carol Anne are seen in the bathtub, their backs and faces are only seen. There is a brief scene where Steven is forceful towards Diane while under Kane's mind control. Diane and Steven are seen walking around their room while kissing passionately, then Carol Anne comes and interrupts them. Steven is seen shirtless in one scene. |
violence | 5/10 Steven vomits up a gross, formless organism, it then rolls under the bed causing it to shake. And then turns into a terrifying creature. The ghosts attack the family while in the car in the garage, a major scene shows the crescent wrenches methodically smashing the headlights. Then the car breaks through the garage door and drives away. Flashbacks of the first "Poltergeist," (the coffins coming out of the ground and the house colliding into a ball.) Wires come out of Robbie's braces and start trapping him with the wires. When Steven goes to sit down on a chair, he gets startled by lightening and is flung across the room. Steven is thrown through his bedroom door by a creature. |
profanity | 4/10 - 7 uses of Hell - 2 uses of Damn - 1 use of Pissed |
alcohol | 2/10 One character drinks tequila |
frightening | 6/10 Many "jump" scenes when the ghosts attack. Diane's mother dies. We only find out when Diane's crying in the kitchen, while Steven's hugging her. The look of Kane may frighten some young viewers. Diane is in the garden, and then dead people come out of the ground and pull her in with them. But it turns out to be a dream. The last 30 minutes are quite disturbing, emotional and intense. 21/50 BBFC - (15): strong horror. Recommended Rating: PG-13 for disturbing images, frightening sequences, some threatening behavior and brief partial nudity |
