Hollywood Movies | Thriller | Horror | Sci-Fi
nudity | 0/10 Brief close-up shots of a woman's bellybutton and torso under her shirt as ants crawl over her skin (no nudity). |
violence | 5/10 A dead man's hand is opened and we see three holes in the middle and ants crawl out of one of the holes. Three people run into a field being sprayed with poison, are covered, and fall to the ground. The next morning they are seen lying on the ground dead (bloodless). A man falls into a pit and ants swarm over his face and body (he is killed off-screen). A horse is swarmed with ants (not visible) and has a panic attack and is shot off-screen by it's owner. A man is bitten by an ant on his hand and grows an infected, inflamed wound as the film goes on. We see close-up time lapses of ant's eating a rodent. A praying mantis eats an ant's head and then is attacked by another ant, pushed into a half-bitten electrical wire, and is electrocuted. A man is overtaken by ants on his head while driving a truck and swerves into a wooden structure and he and the passengers run away from the vehicle. A woman wanders into the desert, is presumably killed off-screen, and then resurrected under the control of ants. Shots of ant's crawling on people's skin and feet. Other close up shot's of ants dying, being squished in slow-motion, carrying dead ants, and walking through a line of dead ants. |
profanity | 3/10 One use of sons-of-bitches. Three uses of goddamn. |
alcohol | 2/10 A man is seen smoking throughout the film. |
frightening | Suggested MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some disturbing images and language 10/50. Though bloodless, the film still has a creepy, unsettling, and trippy vibe to it. The ending is also ambiguous and fairly pessimistic as the two remaining main characters give up defending themselves and essentially have their minds taken over by ants. |
