nudity | The choked corpse of a young woman is undressed by a young man, but not for sexual intentions, although her breasts are shown clearly more than once. He rubs her naked body several times to get its perfume. Nude corpses of about a dozen young women are discovered one by one, after their murders. These are shown shortly and not in close-up. There is a scene of orgy near the final scene, with men and women who are intoxicated by the smell of the finally created perfume. Kisses and sex is involved. Some are partially and some are fully naked. |
violence | Very brief flashes of dead animal related gore in an 18th-century marketplace. A woman is hanged. She is seen with a noose around her neck and then she drops offscreen. Several children unsuccessfully try to smother an infant. A woman beats several children. A woman's throat is slit in the distance, then her bloody face is seen in closeup. A person tries to boil a dead cat. Several innocent people are shot accidentally in a montage. No blood. The main character kills several young women. The first one is by accidental choking and is an unintentional murder similar to Of Mice and Men's Lenny's killing a young beautiful lady. The following killings are deliberately commited but are not shown in so much detail. A group of homeless people pile up around a man and rip him apart. There are just one or two brief flashes of blood or gore, but this scene still is potetially disturbing. |
profanity | Some very dated name-calling. |
alcohol | People are shown drinking wine at a party. The final perfume is supposed to be very intoxicating. |
frightening | The main character spreads a waxy substance on female corpses and later scrapes this with a spatula. |
