The spaceship, Starship Avalon, in its 120-year voyage to an inaccessible settlement planet known as the "Property Colony" and transporting 5,258 individuals has a breakdown in one of its rest chambers. Therefore one hibernation unit opens rashly and the one individual that gets up, Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) is stranded on the spaceship, still 90 years from his goal.
