Movie Parental Guide

nudity Sex/Nudity: 4/10 There is a brief homosexual flirtation between J. Edgar Hoover and a young male waiter that consists of both of them biting opposite ends of a cracker simultaneously. The scene is played for comic relief. Later in the film, Hoover is described as a "fairy." Nixon states that Dwight Eisenhower, JFK, and Martin Luther King, Jr. had mistresses. Nixon says that the Kennedys "screw everything that moves." (In a deleted scene, a man remarks on the size of a woman's "t*ts.")
violence Violence: 2/10 Some archive footage of Vietnam war aerial bombing and injured war victims/veterans. Bobby Kennedy's bloody body is shown in archival footage. Nixon's older brother is shown throwing up blood as he suffers from tuberculosis, and his younger brother is shown screaming in agony as he recieves medication for a fatal infection. Nixon himself suffers from a brief infection, and is shown coughing blood in his bed (very brief).
profanity Profanity: 8/10 "Goddamn" is used constantly, as is "shit". "Son of a bitch" and "ass" are heard very frequently as well (too many times to count). Nixon has a habit of saying "cocksucker" when frustrated. There are around, but no more than, 20 uses of the "f" word. We also hear derogatory names for homosexuals ("faggot" and "closet fairy") and African-Americans ("nigger" and "Negro"). "Screw" is used sexually. Normally this language would warrant a 9/10 rating, but due to the length of the movie, usage of the "f" word is rather spread-out.
alcohol Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: 4/10 A few scenes of drinking, smoking and drunkenness. Both Nixon and his wife are inebriated.
frightening Frightening/Intense Scenes: 2/10 We see two of Nixon's brothers right before they die. One of them throws up blood from tuberculosis, and the other (about nine years old) screams in pain while recieving shots to try and combat an infection that proves fatal. Nixon himself is shown coughing blood, and is rushed to the hospital for treatment. All of these scenes are very short.
