Over the course of a few hectic days, numerous interrelated people prepare for a political convention as secrets and lies are surfaced and revealed. This movie tells the intersecting stories of various people connected to the music business in Nashville. Barbara Jean is the reigning queen of Nashville but is near collapse. Linnea and Delbert Reese have a shaky marriage and 2 deaf children. Opal is a British journalist touring the area. These and other stories come together in a dramatic climax.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity A man is seen naked from the rear. A woman is forced to perform a complete striptease in front of an audience of men. The scene lasts for under half a minute. She takes off the top of her dress, revealing her breasts. She then turns around, completely removing the dress. She then takes off her panties, and marches right off stage (only her back is seen once she turns around). A woman wakes up in bed with a man. A married woman is seen in bed with another man; sex is implied. Another married woman has an extended scene in bed with the same man, presumably after sex. In the scene, they only talk affectionately.
violence A man and woman are shot by the same gunman; the man is only grazed, but it's never revealed if the woman survives.
profanity The F-word is used once. The S-word is used six times. The N-word is used once by one African-American insulting another. There are somewhat more frequent uses of expressions such as "goddammit."
alcohol Several scenes are at cocktail parties or bars where numerous people drink and smoke. A woman smokes in a bar. A man and woman smoke in bed, presumably after sex. A man is seen intoxicated twice. A man asks another where he can get some "grass."
frightening Nothing truly intense even by 1975 standards. This film is a mellow character study. The only remotely frightening scene is when a fires a gun into an open crowd. This happens in an extreme wide-shot camera angle.
