| nudity | 6/10 A couple have sex in a motel room. The women is wearing tight lingerie and a lot of her buttocks can be seen, but the scene does not last long and there is no actual nudity. Two people (Camper Mary and Camper Steve) in a tent have sex. We see the man thrust heavily and the both man and women make groaning sounds. The womens breast and buttocks are clearly visible throughout the scene. Graphic Nudity. A naked lady is attacked by a mosquito. We see her buttocks as she tries to crawl away, and she gets stabbed by the mosquitoes proboscis in her buttcheek. A man is attacked by a giant mosquito while using the toilet. He gets up in a panic and rushes out of the bathroom with the mosquito in pursuit, and we can see his bare buttocks for several seconds as he runs in terror. |
| violence | 9/10 Although Mosquito contains several gory scenes the violence is fantasy based very little human to human violence occurs. A giant mosquito is hit at high speeds by a moving vehicle. The insect explodes on the windshield and its innards and blood fly about the scene. Junior (Mike Hard) accidently shoots his cousin Rex (Kenny Mugwump) in the back, there is a shot of the bullet entering his back and a shot of it exiting his stomach both with a bloody gunshot impact wound shown. A man shoots a giant mosquito with a shotgun in midflight. The mosquito graphically explodes with lots of mosquito guts flying in the air. Two fishermen are attacked by a mosquito while on a boat in a lake. The mosquito stabs a man in the eye with its proboscis and blood gushes out of his head. The man struggles in agony as we get a shot of the transparent proboscis sucking the blood into its body. This scene is very graphic. The second fisherman escapes into the forest with a mosquito hot on pursuit. The man bumps into a tree and the mosquito latches onto the guys chest. We get a tracking shot panning away from the man as we see some blood trickling out. A naked lady gets attacked by a mosquito while in a tent. The lady tries to fend the mosquito off by kicking it, but the mosquito stabs her in her buttcheek. Blood gushes out as she screams in pain. A dead body is found in a boat drifting along the river. The body is beyond recognizable as the camera focuses on its disgusting mutilated face for several seconds. The dead mutilated body of a man is found in an office. The camera gets several angles of his torn apart and dried up body, including a graphic shot of its face close up. A panning shot shows hundreds of dead bodies strewn throughout the camp with several bloody corpses. A dead body is seen slumped over a camper van's steering wheel, there is some blood visible on it's shirt. A fight ensues. Several blows to the face are taken and one man is hit in the face with the butt of a shotgun. We later see the bruises of the men and one man graphically pulls a bloody tooth from his mouth. Ray punches Junior in the face in order to knock him out. A swarm of giant mosquitoes chase an RV. The people inside the RV fend off the mosquitoes with guns, axes, and knives. Lots of mosquito gore in the scene, including a scene where a mosquito gets its wings ripped off and thrown violently against a wall and another mosquito gets its proboscis chopped off with a samurai sword. In a hostage situation, a man cuts a womens cheek open with an axe as a threat. Blood oozes out of the wound. A man is stabbed by a mosquitoes proboscis in his side (blood can be seen) and he later pulls the proboscis out of his body with very bloody results. A giant Mosquito sticks it's proboscis into a mans leg as blood gushes out of the wound. Lots of blood can be seen. A man is attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes. One lands on his chest and sticks its proboscis in his forehead while another one lands on his back and stabs in him the shoulder area. Blood gushes out like a fountain. We see his body began to shrivle up as he is getting the blood sucked out of him, and his eyes graphically explode in a close up shot. This is one of the more gory moments in the film. A group of survivors hide in the sewers with the mosquitoes hot on their trail. When cornered, they open fire on the giant bugs with their guns. Lots of insect innards are seen, and we later see the characters drenched in yellowish slime (mosquito blood). Megan attacks a giant Mosquito with an axe, she hits it's head which explodes in a shower of blood and bits. A mosquito is set on fire and it eventually explodes. Various character's shoot the Mosquito's which explode and spray blood everywhere. While being chased by a mosquito up the stairs, they close the door behind them and the mosquito stabs its proboscis through the door, causing it to get stuck. Later on, two characters with an axe and a crowbar attack the mosquito (which is still hopelessly stuck in the door) and bludgeon it to death. We see a good shot of the bloody remains on the door. In the climax, a man grabs a chainsaw and goes face-to-face with several mosquitoes. The man chops up several mosquitoes on screen with graphic results and one gets it head cut off as it attempts fly without a head but crashes into a wall. The man continues to slay the mosquitoes until he is decapitated when a mosquito slices his head off with its proboscis. A house explodes in a large fiery inferno. |

| alcohol | 4/10 A park ranger is seen smoking several cigarettes. Gunnar Hansen's character is seen with a large cigar in nearly every scene he's in. Two characters exchange dialog about making money by meth trafficking. Two fisherman drink several beers on a fishing boat. One man shakes up a beer can and sprays onto another mans face. A man drinks a large bottle of whiskey whilst pissing against a tree. |
| frightening | 7/10 There are numerous sequences showing character's being attacked/killed by giant mutated Mosquitos, and the violence in this film is considerably high and any gorehound would approve of its abundance of blood. The film deliberately tries to be scary and frightening. Some moments are actually pretty good at scaring, such as a scene where the characters are chased by mosquitoes in the sewer. The angles are low and the lighting is dark, allowing the mosquitoes to pop up unexpectedly. Some of the gore is over the top, and it might be too much for some people, such as when a man's eyes explode, or when a man is stabbed in the eye and sucked dry by a mosquito.
