nudity | 4/10 A husband and wife are talking on the couch as they watch television, and the man says, "keep running your mouth like that and i'll take you in the back and screw ya." He says it as a joke and it has no negative connotation. A nude man sits on the toilet as he cleans and tends his wounds, although nothing explicit can be seen as his legs are crossed while he tending his hip. A man is nude in a bathtub, but only his upper body is visible because of his seating position and the camera angles used. Towards the end, a man and a woman have a conversation in which they imply that beer "leads to" sex. Although the word "sex" is never actually said in dialogue, it is implied. |
violence | 10/10 A man is shot in the head with a pistol. A man is seen dead from a gunshot to the head. There's blood on the wound as well as the broken glass the bullet exited through. A man is shot in the shoulder. We later see him removing shrapnel from the wound, though it isn't very bloody. A dog is shot at point blank range with a pistol. We hear the dog whimper and fall down on the ground dying. Not shown Two men are shot with a pistol. One man is shot in the chest and the other is shot in the head. We can see both the bloody bullet wounds. A man's forearm is blown off with a shotgun. His arm be seen as a stump. Quite bloody but only 4 seconds. Another man is shot in the chest with a shotgun. We see the bloody buck shot wounds as his body blown back from the force of the blast. A small pool of blood starts to form around his corpse. A desk clerk is shot off screen. We never see his body or blood, but an empty chair where he was previously was sitting in is empty making it clear he is dead on the floor behind the desk out of sight. Though you do not see the shot hit him, a man has a rather bloody wound from a gunfight with the villain. A man is wounded in the leg with a shotgun. We do not see the entry wound it made until the man is treating himself with medical supplies he steals from a pharmacy. We see a bloody hole in his leg along with many buck shot pellet wounds. We see him pull the buck shot pellets out of his leg. It is suggested that a man kills a woman in her home. He is seen checking his shoe for blood. If so it happens off screen and is ambiguous. There is a very sudden and unexpected car crash. A man is seen with bone sticking out from his arm and lots of blood. |
profanity | 5/10 3 -sses, 2 f-cks, and 1 each of sh-t, son of a b-tch, wh-res, d-ck, and 'riding b-tch', along with 1 use of "screw" (sex). Also 6 uses of "hell", 3 of "Goddamn", 2 of "damn", 1 of "My God", and 1 of "Oh Lord". |
alcohol | 6/10 No drug usage in the film, but the main theme of the film has to do with stolen drug money. In one scene you see many bags of heroin in the back of a truck. The sheriff refers to it as "Mexican brown dope". Infrequent smoking and drinking. In one scene a man is shown self medicating by injecting himself with morphine, though this is done to dull the pain of a gunshot wound. |
frightening | 10/10 The arm-shooting scene is shocking, if brief. The movie centers around a sociopath who kills almost everyone he encounters, deciding each of their fates with a coin toss. Can be intense. Total: 35/50 |
