Unlike most Bond films known for their playful nature, this Bond film takes a more serious and darker tone, with more violent themes.
A woman is whipped for commiting adultery, while her lover is killed off-screen. It is implied he has his heart cut out. We only hear him yelling while we see the man using the whip; we do not see it hitting her. We later see her husband's bloody body from a distance. [Medium; scary]
A man whacks another man in the face with the butt of his rifle in a van; there is bloody mark on his cheek as he slumps in the driver's seat. [Low; sudden]
A man's leg is bitten off by a shark. We see some blood in the water, and later we see his corpse, but we do not see the stump of his leg. [Medium; intense]
Bond finds a woman laying dead on her bed (although the injury is not clear) and a man in a body bag with some scratches and dried blood. [Low; shock/intense]
Bond shoots a harpoon at a man, very little blood is shown at impact. [Low; sudden]
A tank shoots at an abandoned house, killing two people; we see some blood trickle over their faces. [Medium; borderline high due to this scene's context; intense]
A woman jumps out and shoots two army men dead, followed by an army officer shooting her brutally with three bloody holes in her chest. [Low; borderline medium due to this scene's context]
A man is thrown into a decompression chamber and is disrupted, causing the man's head to swell and explode. We see this from outside the door. Blood and gore splatters on the window. [High; graphic/disturbing]
Bond pulls a man, while dangling from a cocaine grinder under him, the man tries to hold on to Bond screaming, while his legs are being minced, we can see some blood and gore, however most is covered by smoke. He eventually is dragged down followed by further squealing. We see red smoke eminating. [High; brief but fairly graphic]
A man is found dead (impaled by a fork-lift). It is dark and hard to see however, but the impact still visable. There is blood shown around the impaled area. [High; brief but slightly disturbing]
Other instances of shooting and hand-to-hand combat. Some explosions. [Low - borderline Medium]

Drugs are seen throughout the whole movie due to the plot (never actually being used, however). [Medium, due to it's entire context for a PG-13 film, discussed frequently; completely justified by the plot however]
The prominent appearance of a cigarette brand (used in the film as an explosive, rather than actually smoked) resulted in the filmmakers being required to include the US Surgeon General's Warning on Smoking during the closing credits.
Tanker trucks at the climax are filled with cocaine, disguised as petroleum, and shipped into different countires worldwide. |

This is probably the most intense Bond movie to date, characters die or almost die in graphic detail.
It's original UK cinema release was censored to secure a 15 rating and in the US to secure a PG-13 rating.
Even the theatrical cut should be viewed by people of at least the age of 16. |
