A photographer struggling with memory loss discovers her pictures may indicate something sinister is hitting close to home.
violence | Moderate portrayals of violence with some details are shown, but justified by context. The film contains some scenes of violence with depictions of bloodshed and injury. In one scene, a man and a woman are fighting and he hits the side of her head with a hammer. Some blood is seen pooling around her head as she lies motionlessly on the ground. Another scene shows a woman engaged in a brief tussle with a young girl. When the woman is about to strangle the young girl, she realizes she is hallucinating and snaps out of it. Although the scenes are brief, they contain some details of bloodshed as well as a sense of threat. As such, they are more appropriate for a teen audience. Parental guidance strongly recommended. |
profanity | The word "f***" is voiced, but used infrequently. There is an utterance of the expletive "f***" in the film, along with other mild bad language such as "asshole". |
frightening | 'Lavender' revolves around Jane, a photographer who suffers severe memory loss after a traumatic accident. Strange incidents start occurring around her, with clues linking back to her childhood home. At the advice of her psychiatrist, she revisits her childhood home and begins to unravel the mystery behind the deaths of her family members. There are several suspenseful sequences and occasional jump scares in the film. For example, the spirit of a young girl appears to the protagonist at times and guides her towards certain objects. In a slightly tense sequence, a spirit reaches out from under a bed and grabs a woman by her legs, then appears to attack her again when she hides in a closet.
