Two women are raped and killed by samurai soldiers. Soon they reappear as vengeful ghosts who seduce and brutally murder the passing samurai. In the Sengoku period, a woman and her daughter are raped and murdered by soldiers during a time of civil war. Afterwards, a series of samurai returning from the war through that area are found mysteriously dead with their throats torn out. The governor calls in a wild and fierce young hero to quell what is evidently an Onryō ghost. He encounters the two beautiful women in an eerie, beautiful scene. After spiritual purification, he meets the demon in a thrilling fight.

nudity A woman and her daughter are raped by a group of thuggish samurai. They throw them on the ground and begin to forcefully kiss them. Then the shot switches to a by-standing samurai as he eats, and we hear the women grunting as they are raped. A ghost woman seduces samurai and then kills them. Her breasts and buttocks are seen a few times, briefly--never her pubic region. A man and his wife have sex. They are seen lying on the floor and kissing. It's then implied that they have sex, although it's not explicitly shown.
violence A ghost woman after seducing samurai, violently bites their throats until they are bleeding (it's not very explicit however). Every samurai she does this to ends up dead, and we see their corpses lying around in various locations. There are a few sword battles. A man chops a woman's arm off, although there isn't any blood. And the dismembered arm turns into a cat arm. A man recounts the tale of how he conquered a fierce enemy. He then holds up his opponent's decapitated head as proof of his victory. A group of samurai, after raping and killing a woman and her daughter, burn their thatch hut to the ground.
profanity Mild terms. I don't really recall, but I know there weren't any f-bombs or worse.
alcohol Many characters drink sake.
frightening By current standards, the film isn't that frightening. It's very dark and atmospheric at times, definitely not for children, although there aren't many people it would scare.
