nudity | Some explicit sex scenes. Frequent appearances of full female upper body nudity. In one scene, a topless woman takes a little boy into her warm embrace, his face at her chest, as they lay on their sides upon a bed. While not especially sexual, there is a shot of the boy's toes curling up in reaction. A small child upon a bed watches a man and woman having sex across from him on the same bed. The man is naked and the woman is topless, but only partial rear nudity of the man is visible. In a scene or two, a teenage boy has sex with a woman, while full rear nudity of him is shown. There are numerous other scenes involving sex between a man and a woman or between two women, mostly with nudity and always with male rear nudity. Some sensual scenes without sex appear as well. |
violence | There are a few scenes of a child being lashed on the back and bleeding, the wounds later shown being tended to. Toward the end of the movie, there are some rapes depicted: no gore. A man in an elevated position hurls a small bowl down at a child, striking the side of the child's forehead: minimal blood. A pregnant woman bleeds from her pelvic region, while crouching above a pool of her blood. There is blood all over her hands and another woman's. The implication is that she caused a miscarriage. As bombs are being dropped from planes, a group of people scramble to avoid the explosions and take shelter, some being injured along the way: no gore. A teenage boy beats up a young man, striking him when he is down. |
alcohol | Some wine is consumed at a dinner table. In another scene, a woman is briefly shown smoking a cigarette. |
frightening | The violence and tension can be intense at times. |
