nudity | Some making out and non-graphic references to sex, including one about a woman's "ample" breasts and the exercises she does to "pump them up." A young woman (Helen) in a dress shows little cleavage, and her bare legs. |
violence | A man is murdered off-screen (his death was believed to be accidental drowning). A man is hit by a car and dumped alive in the sea. His face looks bloody and disfigured. A young man (Max) gets impaled with a hook under his chin. Some blood squirts out before he is dragged across the fryers, fairly brief scene. A young man (Barry) is hit by a car and crashed through a building. Although he's alive, he lies on the ground with cuts and scrapes on his face. In a brief scene, a woman's neck is slashed by a hook (we do not see the actual throat-slashing, as she is facing the other way, but we see blood splatter against a glass door). We very briefly see her corpse later beside the toilet with a bloodied neck slash. A young man (Barry) is murdered with a hook. The actual killing is choppy, and it's hard to make out what is happening, but he is clearly stabbed numerous times in the chest or stomach with a hook. There is minimal blood seen during this scene (only on the killer's hook). A man is stabbed with a hook in his stomach, lifted up the a hook, and laid down on the ground once he is dead. A man in a dark rain slicker and carrying a hook kills a young woman (Helen) amongst stacks of tires. Like the young man's murder, her's is choppy and unclear with only a little blood seen. A young woman (Julie) discovers a young man's corpse in her car truck covered in crabs and wearing a jacket. The same woman later discovers a corpse of a young woman (with bloody wounds) and a young man's frozen face under ice. An evil man carrying a hook chases a young woman on his boat and strikes a young man with the hook. We see a man's hand being severed as he is pulled up onto the top of a sailboat. Brief. We later see the severed hand stuck in a fishing net. |
profanity | Frequent Strong language, 90% of which comes from Ryan Phillippe's character. mostly F words. |
alcohol | Some teen drinking. A teen character smokes cigarettes. A teen girl's mother ridiculously asks her daughter if she's on drugs, her daughter angrily answers no. |
frightening | Very intense. Several jump scares. The killer may be frightening to some. There is one scene where a young woman walks slowly through a dark and creepy store. All is quiet and the lights are suddenly turned off until a figure appears as a mannequin jumps out and tackles her. Though the entire movie is eerie and very suspenseful (with the main characters trying to figure out who is stalking them), the violence is fairly tame, especially for a rated-R horror film. Most killings are brief with minimal blood, and even the stronger violence is toned down and scarce. Virtually no gore. Rated R for strong horror violence and language. Only for viewers of at least 15 years old. |
