Top London cop, PC Nicholas Angel is good. Too good. To stop the rest of his team from looking bad, he is reassigned to the quiet town of Sandford, paired with simple country cop, and everything seems quiet until two actors are found decapitated. It is addressed as an accident, but Angel isn't going to accept that, especially when more and more people turn up dead.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity The police officers regularly use crude double-entendres to joke about a female officer's sexual encounters, sometimes while she investigates murder sites. Some may see these comments as disrespectful or offensive but they are intended to be comical as she joins in with the comments. We see a woman wearing a pair of fake breasts above her shirt. A man has a relationship with a much younger woman. Another man mentions that woman had another sexual relationship with another older man. Nick Frost's character mentions twice that a woman was fingered.
violence The film has several violent images throughout. Most of the more explicit violence is brief and some violent scenes are comedic in tone. It is offscreen or implied, as quick cuts and camera angles obstruct direct view of physical attacks. A police officer is seen breaking into a crime den and shooting criminals. No blood is shown. The same police officer gets stabbed by a man in a montage in the beginning; the knife is shown protruding from his palm and blood spurts upon impact. A killer decapitates a man and woman with an axe. There is blood spraying around but the killing is not seen explicitly, however we later see their decapitated heads on a road. A man gets hit in the head with a hard object. He is then seen unconscious with a bloodied head from the impact. The murderer later blows his house up and we see his charred corpse. A killer pushes a concrete spire from a church roof onto a man standing below. The structure lands on the man, spiked side down, destroying his head and inserting onto his neck, as blood and gore spray around. He stands for a bit, then falls over. His mutilated corpse is shown. Very graphic, this is the most violent and gory scene in the film. A policeman threatens to decapitate someone. He doesn't. A mysterious hooded figure kills a woman by shoving hedge shears into her throat. Blood squirts onto a window and we see the woman screaming in pain. A tomb full of rotting corpses (including the corpses of children) is found. A man trips and gets impaled by a miniature church; a spike is shown protruding from beneath his lower jaw out of his mouth (blood spurts) as he is unable to move. He survives. A little less graphic than the previous scene involving a church. There is a large shootout during the third act of the film. Many people are shot but none of them fatally (shot in the arm, foot, or hand). Little blood. During this shootout, a man has a large bear trap fall on his head and a woman hits her head on the hood of a car (brief blood splatter in both these scenes). A police officer kicks an old lady in the face, causing the lady's head to have a bloody impact with a car bonnet and also trips up an elder gentleman. They all survive. However, the victims are all part of a secret murder cult. A man is shot with an old musket. Fairly bloody, but he survives. A man trips on a bomb, causing an entire building to explode.
profanity About 20 F-words, several anatomical terms (tw*t, d*ck, pr*ck, bing, balls, ass, a*shole, etc.), several mild obscenities, five obscene hand gestures, some milder name-calling. A swear box is briefly shown multiple times, with several words written on it and their appropriate fine, including the F-word, "sh*t", "d*ck", "bitch", "bastard". All are partially censored with symbols (i.e.: "f#ck" or "s#!t), with the exception of "cunt". "C*nt" is shown once written and said once in an insulting manner. There is a scene where somebody says "ass-wipe".
alcohol There are a few scenes in a pub which feature a fair amount of social drinking. In one scene, almost all of the drinkers at the pub are underage; however, a police officer throws them out. An off-duty police officer tries to drive his car while drunk, after being told specifically not to by another officer, and nearly crashes into him. It is mentioned that a character's relative was a drug dealer. A man is shown completely drunk; he is taken home and drinks more. After going to the pub, a man persuades a police officer to come back to his house for a few more drinks. Several characters smoke cigarettes.
frightening Almost everything listed under the Violence & Gore category is intense and sometimes a bit frightening, although a vast majority of the film holds a comedic undertone as it regularly parodies several action films and their tropes. Hooded figures which look like the Grim Reaper kill a lot of people throughout the movie; they can be frightening to children. There is a lot of language and gore in this movie, but it is all very comic and meant for laughs. It is revealed that almost the entire population of a countryside village are murderers who are part of a cult and have an almost unsettling agenda.
