A documentary that follows football player and pro-wrestler Chris Nowinski's quest to uncover the truth about the consequences of sports related head injuries. Former football player and wrestler Chris Nowinski's quest to publicize recent findings about the often dire consequences of head concussions sustained by athletes in contact sports — injuries that have previously been considered momentary setbacks and ignored in the name of toughness and dedication to the team.

Movie Parental Guide

violence The violence you don't see is the scariest part of this documentary. The many concussions that go untreated, unreported and the many subconcusive blows that each fundamentally scar the brains of athletes is a serious problem in this country. There are parents, coaches, trainers and players who put up a willful wall of self-denial, who deny ownership of injuries that could have life-altering effects on young athletes. How do we play contact sports to keep them violence free? Should a player with a history of diagnosed concussion or concussion-like symptoms even play? I would hate to be a parent of an athlete saying "I'm sorry you won't ever be the adult you could have been had you avoided contact sports." Look long and hard at the violence you see here. A must-see for parents of athletes.
