The men of Bravo Company are facing a battle that's all uphill… up Hamburger Hill. Fourteen war-weary soldiers are battling for a mud-covered mound of earth so named because it chews up soldiers like chopped meat. They are fighting for their country, their fellow soldiers and their lives. War is hell, but this is worse. Hamburger Hill tells it the way it was, the way it really was. It's a raw, gritty and totally unrelenting dramatic depiction of one of the fiercest battles of America's bloodiest war. This happened. Hamburger Hill - war at its worst, men at their best.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity Rated R for Strong Graphic War Violence, Brief Nudity, and for Strong Language. Some mild sexual references At one point in the film a soldier is shown looking at a dirty magazine. Only breasts are shown. Very brief The violence and the language in this film are used to make it realistic. It is considered one of the most realistic vietnam films out there
violence An American soldier fires an M60 machine gun at an N.V.A. soldier's head, exploding it upon impact. An American soldier is found impaled on stakes planted in the ground. An N.V.A. soldier is shot in the head with bloody results. A soldier is thrown by an explosion. When we next see him, his intestines are hanging out. Soldiers are blown up by mines. A man's arm is shot off and he isn't aware until seeing it. There is plenty of random gun violence as a result of the many gunfights and shootouts in the film.
profanity Frequent profanity, including references abusing the name of "Jesus", and use of "Christ," and "Goddamn." The 'f' word is used repeatedly throughout Non-profane yet insulting: numerous uses of racially-derogatory words for black Americans, and those of at least 6 or 7 other nationalities.
alcohol Soldiers smoke and drink throughout. In at least one of the bar scenes, an obviously drunk soldier really hauls off and hits another, bloodying his face.
frightening The war violence is pervasive and quite graphic. It makes Saving Private Ryan look like a John Wayne war movie, by comparison. The violence is like something you'd expect from your average Troma film (If you don't know what that is, look it up).
