nudity | Due to the main characters in this movie - a middle-aged man and a 16-year-old girl - there is frequent speculation and discussion about the nature of their relationship. It is important to note that their relationship is strictly platonic and unromantic. There is no nudity or sex - implied or explicit - in this movie. * A teenage girl removes her tampon and throws it at another girl. * A girl refers to her mother as a 'crack whore.' * An under-age girl says that her mother's boyfriend rapes her every night. This is later revealed to be untrue. * A supposed paedophile makes several lurid and salacious comments to a man regarding the main female character. The man later chokes the paedophile to death in retaliation. * A teenage girl begins to unzip her clothing before taking a shower. Before any flesh is revealed, a man pointedly closes the door to the bathroom. * A teenage girl asks a middle-aged man if he is 'attracted' to her; if he thinks she is 'pretty'. This leads to a discussion about the ethical and moral implications of him telling her that she is pretty. He refuses to answer the question. She seems angered by his defensiveness. * At the very end of the movie, in reference to an earlier scene, a man tells a teenage girl that she is pretty. This is a friendly, fatherly remark, rather than romantic or salacious. * A teenage girl and a middle-aged man share a motel room. He pointedly sleeps upright in an armchair while she takes the bed. He is clearly uncomfortable and unable to sleep, and after much persuasion on her part, he agrees to share the bed with her. They sleep in opposite orientations, and with pillows between them. They both seem very eager to prove that they are not sharing a bed in the conventional sense, though the man is far more keen to prove this than the girl. * A girl angrily asks a man, 'so it's okay to kill a teenage girl, but not to f*ck one?' |
violence | The theme of this movie is a murderous rampage across the country perpetrated by a middle-aged man with terminal cancer, and a 16-year-old girl; his accomplice. Most of the deaths are 'justified' by the victim being overly narcissistic, actively unpleasant to other people, or just annoying. This is a comedy film. * A man with a pump-action shotgun breaks into an apartment, shoots a television set, then shoots another man in the stomach. * A woman throws a baby at a man carrying a shotgun. He shoots a baby off-screen. He smiles as the blood-soaked mother screams. This scene is played for comedic effect, as the victims incessantly irritate the shooter, prompting his attack. The previous two points occur in a dream sequence. All the 'victims' are later seen alive and well. * A teenage girl removes her tampon and throws it at another girl. They start to fight. This is not seen too clearly, and only briefly while a man flicks through the channels on his television. * A man tries to do a backflip off a vending machine. He fails and hits his face on the pavement. This is only seen briefly while a man flicks through the channels on his television. * Two characters play Russian Roulette with a toy gun with a balloon tied to the end. * A man shoots three of his colleagues. One ducks away, and is shot when he raises his head. This scene is a fantasy sequence. When the character 'snaps out of it', he's harmlessly firing staples in their direction, while they continue talking oblivious. * On multiple occasions, a man prepares to commit suicide; he places a loaded gun into his mouth. He never goes through with it. * A man handcuffs a teenage girl to the steering wheel of her car, before trying to ignite the gas tank. She screams. He fails to ignite the gasoline. * A man shoots a teenage girl in the head off-screen. We see blood splatter on the rear window of the car she is in. * A man shoots another man in the chest. There is a small amount of blood. * A teenage girl stabs a woman off-screen in the stomach with a large knife. The camera pans around to her as she slowly pulls the knife up the abdomen, as blood sprays onto her body and face. Very bloody and graphic. * A man and a girl shoot four people in a movie theatre; three in the torso and one in the head. Very little blood is shown. The victims were obnoxious and unpleasant to their attackers beforehand; they are meant to have 'deserved' it. * A girl reaches for a gun with the intention of shooting a police officer then relinquishes her grip. * A middle-aged man teaches a teenage girl how to use a gun responsibly, including how to aim and handle recoil. They use large teddy bears as targets. * A girl cocks a gun next to sleeping man's head for dramatic effect; she has no intention of firing. The gun may not have even been loaded. * A man and a girl shoot a man jogging in a park from a distance. He survives, and pulls a gun on them as they approach. * A girl shoots a man in the chest, then again in the head, killing him. She then fires three more times. This happens off-screen, and we do not see the bullet impacts, though we do see blood coming from the man's mouth. As with many victims in this movie, he is openly antagonistic to one or both of the characters. * A man and a girl fire several shots from a balcony. We hear some screaming, and at least one was a fatal. * A man shoots an obnoxious driver in the chest for taking up two parking spaces. * A man and a girl do a drive-by shooting of several religious protesters holding WBC-style signs. The girl shoots from the window while the man drives. At least two people are fatally wounded. * A man runs another man over with a car. He is seen rolling over the car and being violently thrown on the ground. * A man and a girl throw a tied-up, bloodied man off a cliff. * A man garrottes another man with a cable. He then falls down dead. The scene is quite long; lots of grunting and flailing. The victim was a paedophile who had previously made lurid and offensive remarks about the man's relationship with a much younger female character. Their relationship is nothing other than completely platonic. * A man threatens a security guard with a gun. The guard runs away unharmed. * A man shoots another man in the chest on-camera. Very quick, and very little blood. * A man shoots another man in the stomach. Very quick, and very little blood. * A man shoots an audience member in the face with a single shot from an AK-47. Blood is seen splattering on the woman behind him. * A man with an AK-47 shoots two audience members in the chest in quick succession. Some blood. * A man with an AK-47 shoots a fleeing audience member in the back. Blood splatters on the wall in front of him and he falls down, presumably dead. * A man repeatedly threatens to detonate a bomb strapped to himself, while in a crowded room. The bomb is never detonated. * A man with an AK-47 shoots another man several times in the chest. Very little blood. * A man with an AK-47 shoots a security guard in the chest. Very little blood. * A man and a girl shoot several people in a television studio. The girl uses an AK-47 in automatic mode, and the man is dual-wielding pistols. Several people are shot, with some blood. The scene is mostly in slow-motion. * A man and a girl are repeatedly shot by a SWAT team. There are some bloody bullet impacts, before the characters fall backwards dead. This is a rather violent film, but most of the violence is either played for comedy, in dream or fantasy sequences, or committed against people who are extremely unpleasant or dangerous. Again, this is a comedy movie above all else, and the tone of the movie reflects that. |
profanity | * 1 use of the word 'cunt'. * Frequent use of the word 'fuck' and its derivatives, both sexually and in an exclamatory manner. * 1 use of the word 'twat'. * 1 use of the word 'nigger'. Very infrequent minor racial slurs. * Some homophobic slurs, such as 'cocksucker'. |
alcohol | * A man smokes cigarettes throughout the movie. * A teenage girl smokes cigarettes throughout the movie, though less often than the man. * A man is often seen drinking beer throughout the movie. * A man is seen drinking what is at least his third beer before driving. * A man verbally offers to sell another man drugs, though no drugs are seen. * A woman is referred to as being a 'crack whore.' This is later revealed to be untrue. |
