nudity | Most women in the town are flirtatious, especially a woman named Joyce. She flirts with every man who comes her way, no matter what. Joyce invites Edward into her back room at her beauty salon, and strips for him (we see a low cut dress) and climbs on top of him. He falls backwards, and runs away, horribly embarrassed. Women in the town later say that he tried to rape her. Joyce also has an orgasm-like reaction when Edward cuts her hair. She moans lightly, and curls her toes. Jim and Kim share a suggestive relationship, as they go camping together (no parental figure) and at one point, Jim tells Edward to warn if Kim's mom is coming. He says this as he and Kim head to her bedroom. Kim and Edward share two tame, romantic moments. Jim describes his dad as the only thing that sticks out of him is his dick. Jim lifts Kim and you can see her butt in panties. |
violence | A young man cuts accidentally a hand of a girl. She has blood, but she's okay. The same young man accidentally cuts a man, nothing specific and nothing bloody. Some punches between young men. Jim, Kim's former boyfriend , gets in a couple fistfights with Edward , one very brief shoving match with Kim. Jim, Kim's former boyfriend gets stabbed once below the screen in a final fight. Blood is seen covering his chest or stomach. Towards the end of the movie. There's some blood in Edward's scissorhands and Kim has blood in her dress. Mildly Disturbing. |
profanity | Some curse words (nothing too strong) are uttered. Only a few uses of "shit", dick, "hell", "ass", "bitch" and one "Jesus". |
alcohol | Some characters drink alcohol, while another drives drunk, nearly hitting a child. There is also a mild use of smoking seen at the barbecue scene. Edward drinks whiskey after being told that its lemonade. Later throws up off screen. |
frightening | This film contains moderate horror. The appearance of Edward may be frightening to very small children. Some parts of story can be quite intense for some viewers because of the way Edward is treated, especially in the last 15 minutes of the film. The old mansion Edward lived in can be frightening. The ending is very sad. It's okay for ages 11 and older. Suggested MPAA Description: Mature Thematic Material, Sexuality, Brief Intense Violence and Some Language. |
