nudity A man and woman kiss passionately and the man kisses the woman's chest while she sits on his lap. A man and woman kiss, and a man kisses a woman on the cheek. We see several South American tribal men, bare-chested and in loin cloths that reveal the sides of their buttocks, and tribal women who are bare-breasted. A man and woman talk about inter-species sex. A woman says she thinks "bald is sexy," and a woman says, "I'm bringing my thong." We see a nude infant girl.
violence There are several creepy and tense scenes when a man sees images of his dead wife, hears her voice coming from a corpse, finds things which he has packed up unpacked again, and hears tales told by children who have had near-death experiences and claim to have seen her. In another creepy scene a man hears a child's voice calling out to him. A boy is shown unconscious on a stretcher while medical personnel are trying to revive him; we see a flat line on a heart monitor, then the child sits up and opens his eyes. A dead man becomes supernaturally animated and grabs a man's arm. A bird talks and flies around in a fit knocking things to the ground and ends up on its back on the floor, fluttering its wings. We see a bloody, dead man on a stretcher who is hooked up to a respirator to keep his organs alive for transplants. A man jumps off a cliff and into rapids, and he floats into a bus that's stuck in the water; then the bus gets unstuck, floats down a river and sinks with the man trapped inside. A man is thrown into a wall and pinned to the floor by two men. A bus full of women and children drives on a dirt road and nearly falls over a cliff; it is then hit broadside by a mudslide, pushed down a hill and into raging rapids (we see this scene a few times with increasing detail and in one scene we see many dead and bloody bodies floating in the water). Auto-mobile crash victims are shown on stretchers going into a hospital emergency room; some are bloody and we hear details of their injuries. We see several scenes of very sick children in an oncology ward and see a list of children's names with "deceased" stamped on several. We see a woman floating face down in water. We hear that a woman suffered a broken back. A large group of tribal men surround a man and threaten him with spears. We see tribal people with piercings in their ears, noses and lower lips. We see a number of graves marked by piles of rocks. A man yells at an airport ticket agent in frustration. There is a discussion about searching for a body, and references to delivering a pre-term baby by C-section because the mother was dying. We see a parrot that looks sick (he's missing feathers) and people talk about the fact that he isn't eating.
profanity 1 nearly uttered F-word, 1 scatological term, 5 anatomical terms, 6 mild obscenities, 5 religious exclamations.
alcohol People are shown drinking alcohol in a couple of scenes.
frightening There are a small number of jumpy moments where things pop up. These are not particularly extreme and are listed here. While a child is flatlined on a hospital bed, he suddenly opens his eyes and his head lifts up for a moment before dropping back down with eyes closed. This is shown again briefly later on. A woman known to be dead is seen standing outside of a window when a man looks up. Several scenes in the movie take on a very suspenseful tone. Suggested MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some disturbing images, sensuality, brief language and a scene of violence.
