nudity | A woman is shown standing around in a bikini. It is apparent that she and the general are having an affair and that he intends to have sex with her when he gets back. At the end, Dr. Strangelove suggests that after the nuclear explosion to restore the population there will have to be a ratio of 10 women to each men, much to many of the men's approval. A man talks about women taking his "essence". (Semen) |
violence | To stop an insane general's attempt to start a world war, troops from another base are sent to storm his base. As the paranoid commander has told his own troops that the incoming troops are Warsaw troops in disguise, they violently resist. There are scenes of nuclear explosions. There is also a suicide, not shown on screen. It is almost a punchline. |
profanity | Very mild profanities such as 'damn'. |
alcohol | Characters are shown smoking cigars. |
frightening | This is a black comedy about accidental use of atomic bombs. Some scenes of nuclear explosions could be frightening or intense. Even though the film is a PG and the fact that it is a comedy (dark comedy), the film's subject matter is very serious and younger audiences might not understand the plot or even find the subject matter interesting. |
