nudity | A man admits to having a child out of wedlock. He mentions that he "hooked up with a cheerleader" in college. A man says his father had six children by three different women. Married couples flirt. In one scene in particular, it is suggested that they are going to go upstairs soon and have sex. |
violence | There are intense car chases and shootouts. In fist fights, blood can be seen on character's faces. There are a few near-death incidents. Children run to a building to peer in a window to see something. Inside the building, a teenage boy is being beaten by a group of about ten big men. At the end of the beating, when a gang leader orders the group to stop, it is revealed that this is an initiation for the victim, he is now in the gang, and is "family". But he also threatens that the beating would be "nothing" compared what the boy would get if he ever turned on the gang or tried to leave. The scene ends, with confusing, and perhaps disorienting, intent, with the gang giving the boy a group hug. The victim has trouble standing and has blood, cuts, and bruises on his face. A face bruise persists for a fraction of the film. |
profanity | None. |
alcohol | The plot involves a lot of drug dealing, but there are no onscreen or implied scenes of drug use or intoxicated characters. You can sometimes see drugs being carried in plastic bags. A cop is caught stealing drugs from an evidence room and is arrested. |
frightening | A husband and wife find out that their child has died in a car wreck (off screen) and are heavily grieving and weeping in two scenes. The shootouts and near-death sequences can be very intense. Guns are fired numerous times, and there are multiple police chases. Men are tackled to the ground, and there's a lot of punching and kicking. Nobody is ever seriously injured, though. When stopped in his car by some police officers, the guy holds a shotgun in his hand and attempts to shoot one of the officers when he walks over to the car door. The guy is stopped by one of his friends just in time, but the whole scene is very intense. |
