nudity | A man kisses his girlfriend and wakes up next to her in the morning--fornication clearly implied. When doctors are taking care of one of a dead man, his privates are faintly visible in the background. In a storefront window, pictures of 2 women who are topless except for nipple 'pasties' are briefly visible; one of the women seems to have no bottoms on either, but only the side of her thigh is shown. |
violence | Two shotgun blasts from ten foot range create a lot of splatter and visible blood (and pain). Attempt on a life by shooting a shotgun into a car windshield. Two dead men can be seen burning inside a car. Two men are shot at the end of the film, one with blood splatter (the blood then pools around his body). Other than those few scenes, not a lot of actual violence. Woman is shown strangled with bruises around her throat and blood stain on her dress. Very realistic surgery and hospital scenes that have some blood appropriate for a surgery scene. |
profanity | - 3 uses of Hell - 1 use of Bullshit |
alcohol | No drugs. Alcohol and smoking minimal and accurate for 1968; there is not much and it's not emphasized. |
frightening | Famous car chase scene in San Francisco, ending in a large explosion. It's well done, but reasonably tame compared to more recent films. Touch and go operation in hospital. Shotgun scene is brief (just a few seconds) but intense. Some bloody scenes. One woman is seen contorted on the ground after being strangled, which visibly upsets a woman who witnesses the scene. |
