Bridget Jones’s Diary is a romantic love story comedy from the best selling novel of the same name by Helen Fielding. A chaotic Jones meets a snobbish lawyer named Mark and soon he enters into her world of imperfections.
nudity | A brief but graphic sex scene. A man gropes a younger woman's rear. A woman calls a man "Tits Pervert", as she narrates that he often stares at her breasts. Much dialogue referring to intercourse. |
violence | One fistfight, containing maybe 6 punches, a broken window, and a slight amount of blood. It's portrayed as a sincere fight (between romantic rivals) and, while adding to the weight of the story, might be too violent for parents of younger (under 7) children. |
profanity | Some strong language: a fair number of uses of the 'f' word and blasphemy. But also several other, more mild obscenities. The line "ham fisted cunt" is in the North American version of the film but has been cut from international releases. |
alcohol | Characters drink and smoke a lot. There are several scenes in which the main characters get very drunk. |
