nudity | An actress sleeps with at least five men; only one encounter is shown, and not graphically (passionate kissing). A man tells a woman "You had sex with Jiff." A man says, "Let's try that again, this time without the erection." A man says, "Last night was great... but next time, I'd like to use only two condoms." A woman says, "I want to make love to you," and references the man being inside of her. A man says, "You must keep Mr. Weenie inside the pants" to another man who has an uncontrollable impulse to show his penis to strangers. A woman says, "I'm ok with us having sex." A man flashes his penis to some cheerleaders; we do not see any critical nudity (shot from behind). The girls laugh. A woman goes topless on film, but we do not see anything below her shoulders. She later mentions this rather graphically. A man is asked if he's willing to show his bare butts on film. He giggles. A man and a woman make out passionately for about 30 seconds. Two women are revealed to be in a lesbian relationship. Two men pretend to be gay briefly. |
violence | Although we don't see who's firing, we hear gunshots as Bowfinger and his crew pick up some illegal aliens on the border to be their crew (we do hear bullets hitting their van). A man runs across a highway and is almost hit. For scenes in Bowfinger's movie, we see shooting with lots of fake blood and gore, a fake decapitated head with a bloody stump, and a scene where a man melts; his skin drips down his face and his arm falls off. (All of this is mild and comical.) |
profanity | 2 uses of "fuck," 10 or more uses of "shit," 6 uses of "ass," 5 uses of "damn," and 1 use of "hell." Several uses of "bastard." |
alcohol | With the aforementioned actress at the door, we see Bowfinger pour a bottle of cheap wine into an empty expensive bottle and then water it down. Later, the actress mentions that this is the type of wine that one can drink as much as they want and not get drunk. |
frightening | Younger kids may find a scene where Bowfinger and the others convince Jiff to cross both sides of a very busy freeway on foot as somewhat comically suspenseful, what with all the speeding cars passing within inches of him. Some of the scenes in Bowfinger's movie are comically intense, including a screaming woman with a knife, and aliens. |
