| frightening | 'Before I Wake' is a horror film revolving around Cody, a young orphan whose dreams and nightmares manifest in reality as he sleeps. Terrified by his powers, his adoptive parents, Jessie and Mark, try to uncover the truth behind Cody's nightmares. In the film, there are several scenes of horror where characters are attacked by a ghostly creature. The creature has a slightly disturbing appearance, with a skeletal figure and alien-like facial features. Aside from this, there are other apparitions which appear occasionally throughout the film, with slightly ghastly features such as hollow eye sockets and cracked skin. Overall, while there is some build-up of suspense and brief moments of violence, the depiction and portrayal of frightening scenes are not prolonged and/or overly detailed.
