nudity | The following are the main reasons why the movie was rated PG-13 in the first place. -The parents wake up in bed, then the man goes under the sheets and seems to be touching his wife in 'certain' places as she laughs. -A girl comes out of her room with her night gown on, but the gown is unbuttoned and somewhat opened up. Her fiance sees her, and it is quite an awkward moment. - Some male characters are seen in what appears to be a brothel. There are several shots of cleavage and men kissing many different women. - As two male characters run to the river to swim they are seen nude from behind for a long amount of time. -Some sexual remarks (not very obvious), talk of sex in marriage (in terms of reproducing fine children), etc. -A man and woman kiss many times. |
violence | -A man often goes and watches fights (the earliest of modern-day wrestling), and then he ends up in a fight as well, getting bruises and a black eye. -The rest is mild, like slapping in the face, etc. |
profanity | Blasphemy, the 'd' word, etc. |
alcohol | -There are a few drunk people; mild. -Alchohol is consumed at balls and parties. |
frightening | -Jane's sister, Cassandra, learns that her fiance was found dead at sea. -The ending is intense because Jane decides not to stay with the man she loves. The intensity of it is when she is running away with him, but then decides to come back. |
