Two young wolves at opposite ends of their pack's social order are thrown together into a foreign land and need each other to return home, but love complicates everything. Two mismatched wolves embark on a cross-country quest to get back home and restore peace in their pack after being relocated thousands of miles away by well-meaning park rangers. Quick-witted Humphrey (voice of Justin Long) likes to frolic with friends and play video games with squirrels; disciplined Kate (voice of Hayden Panettiere) likes to call the shots and hunt caribou. Normally, an omega wolf like Humphrey would never stand a chance with an alpha wolf like Kate, but when they're both transported halfway across the country they must work together to get back to their natural habitat. And it won't be easy either, because the one thing Humphrey and Kate can agree on is that they don't have anything in common. Perhaps by working together toward a common goal, however, the two contentious traveling companions will finally realize that even lone wolves can use a helping paw every once in a while.
nudity | 3/10 Paddy tells Kate and Humphrey that they have to repopulate and make wolf puppies. Salty calls Kate "hot". In one scene, Humphrey and Kate are about to kiss, but the moment gets cut short when Kate runs away. Kate brushes her body on Humphrey's nose in a few scenes, causing him to become a little aroused. Before getting attacked by bears, Humphrey playfully tackles Kate (she's lying on the ground while Humphrey's on top of her). As he makes a compliment on her body, she tells him "No offense, but can you stop putting your paws on me?" |
violence | 3/10 Some hunting. Can-Do is scratched and they show his scars. Little blood is seen. Lots of wolves fighting and growling, but no blood. In one scene, Humphrey gets attacked by bears. Kate accidentally hits Humphrey in the face with a branch. Might look painful, but it's mostly done for laughs. There's a scene where Humphrey gets into a fight. May seen intense, but it's less than a minute long. |
profanity | 3/10 A few name-calling (idiot, loser, crazy person, jerk, weirdo). "Damn" is used a few times, while "hell" can be heard twice. Garth and Humphrey repeatedly say "ass" in one scene (done for laughs). In a caribou hunt scene, Humphrey is about to say "Holy shit!", but instead it comes out "Holy... Caribou!" |
alcohol | 1/10 A thug is seen drinking beer (or wine). A man says "This is way easier than snorting weed". |
frightening | 4/10 Kate recalls Tony saying they might have to fight for the valley and an image comes up of wolves fighting. Might be intense for young viewers. The scene later appears near the end of the movie. Wolves growling and snarling. The scene when Kate gets hit to near death by a caribou stampede and Humphrey and the other wolves mourn might seem a little too emotional for younger kids. Humphrey gets into a fight with another wolf. This can be a bit intense for younger kids. The bears in the movie (except the cub) can be scary for little kids. Suggested MPAA rating: PG for rude humor, mild language, scary action, some suggestive content and a brief drug reference. 10+ |
