nudity | Some mild sex references. A young man is seen in his underwear and bare chested when he climbs up onto his bed to sleep. |
violence | A man is shown graphically shooting himself in the head (we see the bloody bullet hole and blood splatters on another man's face). There is a scene of moderate-to-strong violence where a woman is stoned to death in the street. The wounds inflicted are not dwelt upon, but screams are heard. There is talk of a kidnapping and murder of a child that occured in the past. The film builds to a strong scene of violence. A man is shown being stabbed four or five times, and his bloody body is surprisingly graphic (with open eyes, sunken face, and visible stab wounds). |
profanity | Occasional mild language (e.g. 'B*stard') |
alcohol | Several people are shown drinking and smoking, though not to excess. |
frightening | The tone of the film is rather dark, but since it approaches its realities of murder and criminality from a matter-of-fact aspect rather than a creepy one, I would have a hard time thinking that it would be scary for many kids. |
