nudity | A creature wearing a dress reveals a bit of bare leg while writing on the ground. Two men make sexual remarks about a woman, and it is implied that all three are planning to spend the evening together. |
violence | A man shoots a vampire in the chest. It has no effect on the vampire except a bloody hole. The vampire slams the man into a wall. He pins him to the wall with a sharp object, but you only see the man's face. A vampire breaks a womans arm and throws her to the ground. The vampire gets on top of the woman and bites her neck, but no blood is seen. A group of vampires surround a woman and claw her several times. Bloody slash marks are seen and her face and neck have a lot of blood on them. A vampire grabs her and is right about to bite her throat and she screams loudly, but the camera cuts away just before the vampire bites her. A man is pounced on by a vampire and has his neck bitten and torn open. Bloody. The man's head is later found on a pike. A man runs several vampires over and cuts them up with a tractor. Some lose heads or limbs, and one is torn in half. The man shoots vampires with a shotgun from inside the tractor, and one's head explodes gorily. The man crashes the tractor, and gets out and blows up the building he is in, setting several vampires on fire. He is severely injured and is brutally finished off by having his head crushed by a vampire. A vampire is thrown into gears and is completely torn apart. A man's arm is ripped off in the gears. Bone and blood are seen on the stump. He is infected and is brutally killed by another man by being graphically decapitated with an axe. A vampire breaks a man's neck slowly, with gross cracking sounds. A little girl vampire feasts on someone's neck. The neck looks shredded and the person is covered in blood. The little vampire is decapitated by a teenage boy. A group of sled dogs are murdered mostly offscreen, and the bloody remains are shown. Many people are jumped on and bitten, but this usually happens quickly. A vampire is burned from a UV light. There is a brutal fight between Marlow and Eben at the end. Lots of punching and kicking. Eben is hit in the mouth several times and spits blood. Marlow also breaks Eben's arm. Eben finally throws a punch so hard that it graphically goes through Marlow's mouth and out the back of his head. Lots of blood is seen. A man is pulled into an alley by a vampire. He is bitten offscreen, but he is thrown out of the alley back onscreen, with a bloody, torn open neck. He grunts and blood gurgles from his mouth and the grisly wound in his neck. A large scale battle occurs in the streets of Barrow between the humans and the vampires. Lots of gunshots and screams. Some of this is seen from overhead, and lots of blood can be seen smeared on the snow covered streets. Vampires are seen jumping on people and biting them, and humans are seen shooting at the vampires and swinging sharp objects at them. The vampires set fire to the whole town. A woman is dragged under a house by a vampire. Her husband tries to save her, but the vampire breaks the mans leg and drags the woman away. A man who's leg had been broken by a vampire is found by Eben. He turns into a vampire, and Eben brutally chops the man's head off with an axe. Overall this movie is extraordanarily gory and violent. |
profanity | Profanity includes several uses of "fuck" and lots of "shit"s (once with "head"), as well as "bitch," "damn," and "hell." |
alcohol | Characters drink and refer to whiskey and vodka. A grandmother grows marijuana to soothe her cancer (a baggie appears in a desk drawer, and plants are shown in her house). Someone thinks a vampire is a human "coked up on PCP. |
frightening | While the themes aren't especially sophisticated, the imagery is very bloody, with bodies getting torn, beaten, chewed, and graphically abused. The vampires may scare some young viewers. Children are in danger and killed (one is a bloody-mouthed vampire who's eventually slain by an adolescent boy), and there are explosions, car crashes, shootings, foot chases. Lots of tense and jump scenes. |
